Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) has different varieties and can affect individuals differently. Some have the hyperactive, inattentive, and impulsive type of ADHD that my son and I have, and others just have the inattentive type of ADHD where it is hard to focus and they seem lost in their own thoughts and in their own world. My son described the sensation of being still as feeling like there are bugs crawling on his skin and it feels "ticklish" and he "doesn’t like it” and feels like he “has to move.” That is how the hyperactive type of ADHD person may feel at times. The impulse control issues for some ADHD types can also be an issue. It’s been said that this combination type of ADHD has a “racecar” brain and the body struggles to catch up with the mind. Stimulant medications can serve to slow the brain down for the body to be more in sync with the brain and calm down the sensations. This section is intended to cover topics that fall under the ADHD umbrella of neurodivergence.
